How to Get Started on Poshmark for Beginners!

What is Poshmark?

Poshmark is an App where you can sell and buy fashion, such as: clothes, shoes, and accessories. The best part is you can sell pre-owned clothing, which means no money required to start your new venture! It's a great way of getting rid of clutter and making some extra cash! 

Whether you plan on running this business full time or par-time you will have results if you're consistent. I've had great success on Poshmark as a par-time seller! (More on how I manage my par-time business on Poshmark on the next blog!) If you're willing to put in some effort then you are well on your way to opening another stream of income. 

STEP ONE: Create an Account 

You can create an account on any device. If you're on your Iphone go to the app store and search, "Poshmark". Sign up via email. Facebook, or Google. It's a quick sign up that should take you no more than 2 minutes.

I would totally recommend that you add a profile picture of yourself. It's more personal and buyers are more inclined to purchase from someone they can trust.

You can also include a banner on your profile. You can showcase your promotions here or a preview of what styles you sell in your closet. (That's my recommendation but get creative and put whatever you'd like here!)

STEP TWO: List Your Items

Open up that closet and start searching for the things you don't use anymore. Once you've gathered those items it's time to take some photos. 

I recommend the "Wall Method" (I made that name up just now 😂) 

It is the easiest way to showcase clothes when you're just starting out on Poshmark.

You'll need a clear push pin, a hanger, and your clothes.  Then look around for a spot in your home with good lighting. Push the pin into the wall and put the item on the hanger and place the hanger on the pin. 

STEP THREE: Get it SOLD

The key is to get as many eyes on your listing as possible. You can do this by sharing your listings on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and Pintrest. 

You should also share other sellers listings on Poshmark. It is common that if someone shares your listings that you share their listings in return. This is super helpful when you're just starting out because they might have over 100k follower and when they share your listing, you gain more exposure. 

Also, keep in mind that the more you list on your closet the more sales you will make because you're offering a variety of items.
